Sermon: 3rd Sunday in Easter

Pastor Dan Berteau talks about spreading the Gospel beyond Trinity.

Budget Meetings

All congregant members are invited to review the budget for the church and school Sunday Apr. 26 and provide their feedback.

The following week, on May 3, we will be reviewing, voting and approving the yearly spending plan.

Be sure to check your issue of the Trinitarian for the budgets.  Otherwise, shoot me an email at president@trinitylutherannorfolk.org and I’ll send you a copy.

Additionally, this Wed. from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m., Norfolk Church of Christ, also on Granby St. and just a few doors down from Trinity, is hosting the Bloodmobile for a blood-drive on behalf of Belvedere Churches (Belvedere is the Norfolk community where Trinity is located).  To make an appointment to donate, please visit http://givelife.org and use the passcode: BelC.

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday this week

Our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake supper will be held this Tuesday, Feb. 24, 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m.  Tickets for kids are $3, adults are $5, and families are $15.  Come enjoy this great tradition with some friends!  All are welcome.

Additionally, this week marks the beginning of the Lenten season.  Ash Wednesday, a day for all of us to consider our mortality, begins our preparation and meditation on Christ’s sacrifice and atonement for our sins.  The service begins at 7 p.m.

See you this week!

Sermon: 5th Sunday after Epiphany

In this week’s sermon, pastor discusses why Peter’s mother-in-law went immediately back to work after being healed by Jesus.  He also talks in depth about how Jesus challenges us to expand our faith.  Pastor also talks about the nature of being social and asks the question why people would rather belong to Twitter as opposed to coming to worship.  Finally, he looks at the theory of Evolution, based off a commentary by Deborah Heiligman.

Feb. 22: Winter Jam – Christian Concert

We’re getting a group together to go to Scope and see the “Winter Jam – Christian Concert” (Feb. 22), which includes such artists as Toby Mac.  Cost is $10 at the door.  We’re meeting at the church at 5 p.m.  Pick-up is also at the church at 9 p.m.  Contact Mrs. Hales by Feb. 15, if you want to go.

Sermon: 4th Sunday after Epiphany

In this week’s sermon pastor discusses “Providence” as well as discussing where we as Christians fit on the bridge between modern and traditional life. He also talks about authority and the nature of God, our relationship with God, and God’s presence in the sacrament.

New council members and other news

Congratulations to Meg Faller and Patty Hoeft on their new positions of Vice President and Treasurer, respectively, on church council.

This Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m., council will meet to discuss several important topics:

  • The church and school budget
  • The use of the church for AA meetings
  • Preparation and coordination for Lent and Easter

On Sunday, Jan. 11 following the late service, there will be a voter’s meeting to vote on a change to the by-laws regarding when budgets are due.

Additionally, we will be writing a poll available here on-line and through the Trinitarian asking for your feedback on our Christmas services and what you’d like to see changed or remain the same in future years — and potentially implemented this Easter season.

Finally, the new floor looks fantastic.  Special thanks to Sharon Plawin, Gerry Harger, Ken Leiding, Ron Jones, and Contract Carpet Sales for all of their efforts.
