Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday this week

Our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake supper will be held this Tuesday, Feb. 24, 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. Tickets for kids are $3, adults are $5, and families are $15. Come enjoy this great tradition with some friends! All are welcome.
Additionally, this week marks the beginning of the Lenten season. Ash Wednesday, a day for all of us to consider our mortality, begins our preparation and meditation on Christ’s sacrifice and atonement for our sins. The service begins at 7 p.m.
Sermon: 5th Sunday after Epiphany

In this week’s sermon, pastor discusses why Peter’s mother-in-law went immediately back to work after being healed by Jesus. He also talks in depth about how Jesus challenges us to expand our faith. Pastor also talks about the nature of being social and asks the question why people would rather belong to Twitter as opposed to coming to worship. Finally, he looks at the theory of Evolution, based off a commentary by Deborah Heiligman.
March 8th- Adopt a Spot Clean up

Join us on Sunday March 8th to help clean our Adopt a Spot. We will do this during our Sunday school hour. Please wear casual dress and comfortable shoes for this as we will be walking.

On February 24th we will meet at Trinity at 5 p.m. to waiter/waitress for our annual Shrove Tuesday pancake supper. Please be on time. The supper will end around 7 p.m. be sure to wear dark bottoms and light tops. If you participate you will receive dinner free of charge. If you plan to participate in this please contact Mrs. Hales.
Feb. 22: Winter Jam – Christian Concert

We’re getting a group together to go to Scope and see the “Winter Jam – Christian Concert” (Feb. 22), which includes such artists as Toby Mac. Cost is $10 at the door. We’re meeting at the church at 5 p.m. Pick-up is also at the church at 9 p.m. Contact Mrs. Hales by Feb. 15, if you want to go.

In this week’s sermon pastor discusses “Providence” as well as discussing where we as Christians fit on the bridge between modern and traditional life. He also talks about authority and the nature of God, our relationship with God, and God’s presence in the sacrament.
